Can you please tell me what types of water tests are required for FHA, VA and USDA loans?

WELL WATER TEST EPA Requirements

   Nitrate                                  10mg/l

   Nitrite                                   1mg/l

Total Nitrate/Nitrite        10mg/l *either total or broken out as shown above*

   Total Coliforms                  <10 00="">

Fecal Coliforms/E-Coli    0 (Lab does not need to test if Total Coliforms is 0)

Lead                                      .015mg/l (no lead required in MI) (tested first draw after system unused 8-9 hours)

Letter from Health Dept. if area doesn’t test for the above listed contaminant required

Test good for 90 days (USDA 120 days)

USDA/VA require water tests if on Well regardless if mentioned by appraiser (distance to septic not required unless noted)

FHA/USDA must meet the state or local authority requirements.  If no specific requirement must follow the max contaminant levels of EPA

*USDA – State of Indiana = only Bacteria Test required (E-Coli and Total Coliform)

VA goes by local health authority and if no guidelines exist follows EPA
